The game takes place primarily in and around a remote, huge old mansion in the 1920s. Outside, a rainstorm is raging. The power is out after a lightning strike, so we walk around with a kerosene lamp, with or without kerosene. The atmosphere in the mansion, full of strange guys, locked doors and biting rats, is absolutely gripping. We fight monsters, sharpen our fighting knife, refill our lamp, talk with other characters and solve little puzzles. Eight years ago, there was a fire disaster in the circus, with many dead and injured. Allegedly, the brother of the director was the arsonist; in any case, he was executed for it. We were physically unharmed, but since the fire our nerves have been completely shot and we have spent seven years in an insane asylum.
