Despite it being a short prequel to The Rewinder, I suggest playing Root of Evil only after you’ve completed the main game. This DLC assumes you understand how Rewinding works and the basic mythology of the game world. If anything Root of Evil serves as more of a world-building experience, rounds out the story of The Rewinder, and possibly sets up for a proper sequel. In Root of Evil, you play as Mont (Yin Shan), Qi Yun’s father, who is a master Rewinder. On their way to Xiang Yang, he and young Yun find themselves in Liu Village, which radiates an unusual vibe that is worthy of further investigation.
