As she wakes from a strange dream, two children suddenly appear in front of her. Guided by the children, she wanders into Yotsume Shrine. There she meets a mysterious boy. From the perspective of someone who played and loved the original on mobile, Yotsume God Reunion is definitely worth getting even if you’ve already played it.

It fixes a number of translation errors and awkward puzzles that were present in the original (though there are still a few typos here and there), and the extra CGs and voice lines add a LOT to the emotional experience of the game. The “special edition” storyline is particularly good imo and 100% makes me wanna cry. The best comparison I can make for how the story makes me feel is that it evoked a similar emotional response as watching “Your Name” did: somewhat bittersweet and bound to make me think about the implications for the next week straight. As for the puzzles, they’re not too hard, and the hint + answer system works well when you do get stuck.
