Shogun Showdown is a turn-based combat game with rogue-like and deck-building elements. Position yourself and attack at the right time, upgrade your tiles and combo them to get ready to face the Shogun! So far it is quite fun! The mechanics are simple and easy to understand & it manages to feel surprisingly action-packed for a turn-based game. I kinda want more games to implement turn based duel-style combat. There isn’t too much content yet & it is one of the easier rogue likes out there(I actually won my very first run in the game, which never happened in a rogue like before. Granted, I did play the demo once before, but I’m still not used to it), but even if u just wanna play through it once with every character, you will still get a couple of hours worth of playtime out of it. Shogun Showdown is one of the most clever roguelikes I’ve played recently. It has satisfying controls, tight and engaging combat, a great variety of encounters and weapons (even in Early Access), and some of the best overall visual design I’ve seen. Every encounter feels like a dance, as you weave your way through and around the web of enemy attacks, finding the right time to prepare and the right time to strike. Moving around feels great – this game can be played with only a mouse, with movement bound to the scroll wheel, and it works so elegantly it’s a wonder this hasn’t been done before.
